Cradle-to-Cradle Design Principles Promotion Project – Workplan

The main work items of the project were as follows: (1) Undertaking work related to the promotion of the “cradle-to-cradle” (C2C) design principles, and assisting in the operating of related strategic alliances; (2) Organizing workshops and promotional activities related to C2C design principles, and encouraging participation by different segments within society; (3) Promoting awareness of C2C design principles in universities and colleges, and working to strengthen education in related specialist fields; (4) Collaborating on project-related administrative tasks. Utilizing a range of strategies that included strategic alliances, knowledge platforms, awareness-raising and promotional activities, and system formulation and promotion, the project has realized the coordinated implementation of C2C-related work, including the holding of strategic alliance discussion meetings, which provided an opportunity for joint discussion of the future vision for development of the Taiwan Cradle to Cradle Strategic Alliance and for sharing innovative green design concepts, in addition to which Strategic Alliance publications were distributed to help recruit potential new members and realize the benefits of cross-industry alliances. The project’s knowledge platform website was updated and optimized; the platform design was improved in line with recent trends in the development of the Internet, and the information presented on the platform was carefully collated, so as to enhance the platform’s functionality and usability. Regular and advanced “Train the trainers” courses were held in northern, central and southern Taiwan, along with a product design experience-sharing seminar and a two-day inter-disciplinary workshop; the aim of these activities was to promote the C2C design principles through a wide range of different channels. In addition, guidance was provided to business enterprises to help them implement C2C product design; follow-up was conducted to assess the improvements in product design achieved by firms that have received guidance in past years, and assistance was provided to help firms apply for overseas certification for their products. For the textile industry, a practical approach to planning the production of C2C products was provided, along with cost-benefit analysis. Visits were made to universities and colleges in northern, central, southern and eastern Taiwan to promote C2C design principles, and C2C design principles were incorporated into the curriculum of three university departments and graduate schools. Assistance was also provided for the implementation of administrative work relating to the project, so as to enhance the overall effectiveness and quality of project implementation.
